Kia's 2026 hybrid lineup covers four distinct vehicle types: a compact crossover, a mid-size SUV, a three-row SUV, and a full-size family van. Each uses a different version of the hybrid powertrain and serves a different kind of driver — but they all share the same goal of reducing fuel consumption compared to their gas-only equivalents. If fuel economy is your primary consideration, here is...
When a vehicle is renewed, it often comes with new technologies. This year at Kia, it's the Sportage 2023 SUV's turn to make its debut with an entirely new look and a revolutionary approach. In fact, in addition to the regular gasoline version, hybrid and plug-in hybrid variants are on the menu.
Now, the model's redesign will allow it to face the next few years with confidence, especially since it's all about technology.
Let's take a look at three things that make us smile when we get behind the wheel of the 2023 Kia Sportage.
A model that serves us
The 2023 Sportage was truly designed to cater to our every whim. This becomes clear when you discover the possibility of creating different profiles for the driver. You can tell the vehicle who's just taken over the controls so that it can adjust the settings. This goes from the selection of the audio system to the temperature and the adjustment of the seat. The vehicle even allows us to select a number of adjustments depending on what we like, such as the speed at which the tailgate deploys. Really, a quick look at the Kia Sportage's multimedia system makes us realize that we're getting our hands on more than just an SUV.
Cameras for parking
The 2023 Kia Sportage doesn't just offer us a rearview camera. The available peripheral vision system is quite impressive. Thanks to the side cameras that capture everything around the vehicle, an image of our model is then projected on the screen, as if we were standing back and up high. We can also rotate the screen to see our Sportage from all angles, in three dimensions, as we park or maneuver in a tight spot.
When you first see the system in action, you simply can't believe your eyes.
Fuel economy
Reducing a model's fuel consumption is always a challenge for engineers. This 2023 Sportage does it brilliantly. Of course, we'll be able to measure it fully with the hybrid variants that arrive later this year, but even with the naturally-aspirated version, we managed to pull off a minor miracle by changing the powertrain and increasing the automatic transmission from six to eight speeds. At the end of the runway is a model with a 2.5-liter 4-cylinder engine that now offers 187 horsepower and 178 pound-feet of torque, slightly more than the 2.4-liter unit that was left out.
And the beauty of it all is that the 2023 Sportage is 14% more fuel efficient.
In every way, the 2023 Kia Sportage demonstrates that the technology it carries is impressive. Come and see for yourself at the dealership to find out just how impressive.
