Kia's 2026 hybrid lineup covers four distinct vehicle types: a compact crossover, a mid-size SUV, a three-row SUV, and a full-size family van. Each uses a different version of the hybrid powertrain and serves a different kind of driver — but they all share the same goal of reducing fuel consumption compared to their gas-only equivalents. If fuel economy is your primary consideration, here is...
The all-new 2023 Kia Sportage unveiled this week is a completely redesigned new generation of Kia's popular compact SUV. More spacious and with a whole new look, the 2023 Kia Sportage also offers a host of new technologies and new hybrid and plug-in hybrid engines.
A more economical engine for the 2023 Kia Sportage
For now, however, the 2023 Kia Sportage will be powered by a new 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine that is expected to develop around 187 horsepower. It will still be offered as a front-wheel drive version standard while an all-wheel drive version will be available as an option. According to Kia, this engine will be about 8% more economical compared to the previous generation.
The 2023 Kia Sportage will also be more spacious, with an additional 7.1 inches in length. In addition, the wheelbase is longer which will have a direct impact on the volume for the passengers. They will be entitled to the best rear legroom in the class, according to Kia. In addition, the Kia Sportage gains in cargo volume with 28% more space, or 1,121 liters of cargo space with all seats in place.
The Kia Sportage will therefore be more spacious than a Mazda CX-5, a Toyota RAV4, a Honda CR-V or even a Nissan Rogue. It also retains its adjustable cargo floor.
Inside, luxury is everywhere as is technology. The new 2023 Kia Sportage offers 25 inches of screen everywhere, including a new 12.3-inch screen for the instrument panel, which is now digital. The Kia Sportage will be equipped with 4G Wi-Fi access, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto functions and a host of security technologies.
New X-Line and X-Pro versions
The 2023 Kia Sportage X-Line models have a more robust styling with 19-inch rims. The X-Pro model is for off-road driving with its 17-inch rims wrapped in wide BFGoodrich All-Terrain tires designed for tougher driving. This model also has an off-road driving mode as well as heated windshield wipers.
