Kia's 2026 hybrid lineup covers four distinct vehicle types: a compact crossover, a mid-size SUV, a three-row SUV, and a full-size family van. Each uses a different version of the hybrid powertrain and serves a different kind of driver — but they all share the same goal of reducing fuel consumption compared to their gas-only equivalents. Kia had an absolutely amazing year in 2021, registering increases in sales of 9.3 per cent with 79,198 units sold. Kia also recorded 7 months of record sales including the month of June in which Kia set a new record for monthly sales with 8,850 units sold.
The success of Kia can't be traced to just one model as every vehicle in the lineup did very well last year. The Kia Seltos was the leader with 14,436 units sold while the Kia Forte and Kia Sportage followed with 13,190 units sold and 11,837 units sold respectively.
This is even more impressive considering that the Kia Forte and Kia Sportage are nearing the end of their current generation, and both will be redesigned this year. It is quite surprising that they can maintain this level of popularity despite all of their competitors which have been redesigned more recently. Imagine the success of these models next year.
“Our success in 2021 can be attributed to our industry leading design, safety and technology, as well as our dedicated dealer network, who remained agile in servicing our customers throughout another pandemic year,” says Elias El-Achhab, Chief Operating Officer at Kia Canada. “As we look forward to 2022, consumer demand remains exceptionally high, leaving us optimistic for the year ahead with new and exciting models like the highly anticipated Kia EV6, set to arrive in dealerships early next year.”
Kia did well with electric vehicle sales as well, registering a total of 4,720 units and seeing increases of 24%, 152%, and 21% respectively for the Kia Soul EV, Kia Niro EV, and Kia Niro PHEV.
Kia took home multiple awards as well this year, namely:
- Three Autotrader.ca awards
- Two AJAC awards for best Large Car and best Large Utility Vehicle (Kia K5 and Kia Tellurida)
- D. Power best mass-market brand in 2021 Vehicle Dependability study
