Kia's 2026 hybrid lineup covers four distinct vehicle types: a compact crossover, a mid-size SUV, a three-row SUV, and a full-size family van. Each uses a different version of the hybrid powertrain and serves a different kind of driver — but they all share the same goal of reducing fuel consumption compared to their gas-only equivalents. If fuel economy is your primary consideration, here is...
Kia offers a number of electric vehicles for 2023, two of which are the Kia Soul EV and the Kia EV6. Despite sharing some characteristics, both of these models are very different, which makes them appeal to different buyers.
The powertrain
The Kia EV6 is the first model from the new generation of Kia electric vehicles, which means that it benefits from the latest developments in terms of electric drivetrains from the brand. This is why the EV6 is one of the very rare electric vehicles on the market that benefits from an 800-volt battery architecture which allows charging to be almost twice as fast as competitors, needing only 18 minutes to go from 10% to 80% charge on a level 3 DC fast charger. In addition, the maximum range of 499 kilometres offered by the EV6 means that charging stops on long trips can be kept to a minimum.
On the other hand, the Kia Soul EV is an interesting option in its segment since it is one of the rare sub-compact electric vehicles that benefit from the same capabilities as larger models. Indeed, the Soul EV is capable of driving up to 383 kilometres on a charge.
The interior space
Due to their very different shapes, the Kia EV6 and the Kia Soul EV are both able to claim more interior space than the other in different measurements. Indeed, the Soul EV benefits from more headroom for front and rear passengers while the EV6 is wider for the shoulders and offers more legroom. In the cargo compartment, it is a similar story since the Soul EV has the most available space once the seats are folded flat, with 1,736L compared to the EV6’s 1,322L, but the EV6 is capable of carrying more when all of the seats are in use, with 691L behind the rear seats while the Soul EV has 530L of space in the same configuration.
The technologies
As the flagship of the electric lineup and one of the latest Kia models, the EV6 is equipped with all of the latest in infotainment and driver assistance technologies. These include the two 12,3-inch screens that create the instrument cluster and the infotainment screen, as well as the Highway Driving Assist and the front collision warning with intersection support.
