Picture this: you've just finished your Saturday shopping at Carrefour Laval with your family. Your seven-year-old is eager to get out and stretch their legs while you're still unbuckling the baby from their car seat. In the busy parking lot, cars are constantly moving as other families load their purchases and search for spots. This is exactly when the 2025 Kia Sorento's Safe Exit Assist...

The AJAC (Automobile Journalists Association of Canada) has named the 2021 Kia Seltos as a finalist in the small SUV category. The company's new SUV will compete with the Mazda CX-30 and Subaru Crosstrek for top honours.
This news comes as no surprise. Since it was introduced last spring, the Kia Seltos has been impressing everyone. And when you take the time to discover it, it's easy to see why.
Let's take a look at some of the things that have appealed to AJAC members.
Perfect format
Perfection is not of this world, but if we had to define what the perfect size for an SUV is, the description of the Kia Seltos could very well do it. This model is larger than a typical sub-compact SUV, but not as big as a compact model. What's nice about this is that buyers don't necessarily see their needs being met by a sub-compact SUV (too small) or a compact SUV (unnecessarily oversized), so the 2021 Kia Seltos is the ideal compromise.
Cargo volume remains generous at 1,778 litres once the rear seats are lowered, and when in use, the second row offers a very interesting level of comfort for the occupants, again thanks to the livable volume offered.
Well-chosen powertrains
The 2021 Seltos can be served by two interesting powertrains. In fact, the first three versions (LX [front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive], EX and EX Premium) feature a 2.0-litre 4-cylinder engine that produces 146 horsepower and 132 lb-ft of torque. Fuel consumption is 8.2 L/100 km in the city and 7.1 L/100 km on the highway.
With the top-of-the-line SX Turbo model, it's a turbocharged powerplant that you get, a 1.6-litre, 4-cylinder engine offering 175 horsepower and 195 lb-ft of torque. An IVT (Intelligent Continuously Variable Transmission) serves the naturally-aspirated engine, while a seven-speed, dual-clutch automatic transmission serves the second one. Fuel consumption ratings are 9.4 and 7.9 L/100 km, in order for city and highway driving.
Generous equipment
Then, as with all of the company's products, the 2021 Kia Seltos is generously equipped from the start. It comes with heated front seats, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto applications, as well as Blind Spot and Rear Cross-Traffic Alerts. Starting with the EX, there's a sunroof, Sofino leather seats, added security, keyless entry and push-button start. The EX Premium variant adds a lot of technology, including a UVO multimedia system on a 10.25-inch screen, wireless navigation and cell phone charging. Finally, the SX variant adds a higher quality audio system and head-up display, among other things, to give the model a very luxurious touch.
And add to that the Kia Seltos is a joy to drive with a perfect balance of comfort, performance and handling. As is the case with its size, it offers a perfect compromise in this regard.
That's why it was nominated by the AJAC.
