Kia's 2026 hybrid lineup covers four distinct vehicle types: a compact crossover, a mid-size SUV, a three-row SUV, and a full-size family van. Each uses a different version of the hybrid powertrain and serves a different kind of driver — but they all share the same goal of reducing fuel consumption compared to their gas-only equivalents. If fuel economy is your primary consideration, here is...
There are different ways to design a vehicle and there is no such thing as a one-size-fits-all approach. However, there are some formulas that are more likely to work, and Kia has some very good ones.
In fact, the brand that has been offering us the Seltos since last year is not afraid to dare and to think outside the box. That's why this SUV has no trouble standing out in its class because of its originality, whether it's in terms of design or interior layout.
And it couldn't be more obvious than when you compare it to its competitors. This is the case with Mazda's CX-30, which is a vehicle whose design was dictated by tradition. It's not bad, but it's a lot less appealing.
A quick look at some of the features of the two vehicles makes this clear.
Punchy Design
On the design side, Mazda offers a lineup that's pretty. The problem is that each model adopts the same style. So much so that it's easy to confuse them. The CX-30 doesn't have its own personality.
This is not the case with the Seltos. Its design is singular, its image unique. It cannot be confused with a Soul, a Niro, a Sportage or a Sorento. It's a Seltos!
For any buyer, this is interesting, because sometimes we are looking for something more than a simple means of transportation, but a vehicle that looks like us.
Interior
That also holds true for the interior, where Kia's approach to the Seltos is different from other products across the lineup. With Mazda, it's the Russian doll approach.
In addition, there's another area where the Seltos puts the CX-30 in its own little pocket and that's in the interior design.
This is most noticeable in the second row, where Kia has thought about the passengers who will be invited to sit there. Legroom is almost as good as in a compact-sized model, even though we're in the subcompact SUV category here. With the CX-30, inches are counted in the second row.
And when it comes to cargo space, Kia has the advantage once again. In fact, the Seltos offers 752 liters of cargo space compared to only 572 litres in the second row of the CX-30. And between the back of the first row and the tailgate, the gap is huge; the Seltos offers 1778 liters against only 1280 for the CX-30.
There's no reason to choose a vehicle that doesn't give you value for money in this regard.
Fuel consumption
The Seltos offers another advantage, especially when you're driving around town. Whether it's with its base engine (2.0-litre 4-cylinder) or its more efficient powertrain (1.6-litre turbocharged 4-cylinder), fuel consumption in the city is about half a liter less than that of the two base models of the CX-30, which are also 4-cylinders (2.0 and 2.5 liters).
Pennies, in your pocket.
That's why, for all these reasons, the Kia Seltos is a model that will make your life better.
