Kia's 2026 hybrid lineup covers four distinct vehicle types: a compact crossover, a mid-size SUV, a three-row SUV, and a full-size family van. Each uses a different version of the hybrid powertrain and serves a different kind of driver — but they all share the same goal of reducing fuel consumption compared to their gas-only equivalents. If fuel economy is your primary consideration, here is...
Kia is offering a completely redesigned Sportage for 2023. In fact, it's more than redesigned, it's been redesigned for the better in every way. So much so that the segment will be turned upside down, as a new player capable of shaking up the existing models is about to hit the dealerships.
Here's what's in store for the next few weeks and months with the Sportage.
Arrival in dealerships
Let's start with the question on everyone's lips; when will the new 2023 Sportage show up?
Let's go in order, which will allow us to present the three main variants that will be on the menu.
First, in March, we'll get to see the "base" version, if you will, the one with a gasoline engine. It will be available in five different versions, so it will be possible to equip it entirely, don't worry. There will even be an X-Line version with more interesting off-road features.
Under the hood, we'll find a 187-horsepower, 2.5-litre 4-cylinder engine.
Then, in May, the hybrid model will show up. The versions are still to come, but it will also be very varied. Above all, fuel economy will be put forward thanks to a 1.6-liter turbo 4-cylinder engine. With the electric help it will get, the power will reach 227 horsepower, which is plenty for a lot of fun.
Finally, later this summer, the plug-in hybrid variant will arrive. With a 66.9 kW electric motor and a 13.8 kWh battery, we'll have everything we want with this model. Power will rise to 261 horsepower, but more importantly, we'll enjoy just over 50 kilometers of all-electric range.
We could stop there, but there's so much more to say.
For example, the fact that the interior has been redesigned with great care. In the driver's seat, you'll find a more user-friendly environment than ever before, where modernity blends perfectly with tradition. In what way? You find simple, familiar buttons for the heated seats and steering wheel, for example, and then beautifully integrated touch functions in a panel in the middle of the dashboard; the feel for the fingers is good, the thing is intuitive. And the presentation is dominated by modern, tasteful displays. Really, it feels like you're in a premium model.
Then, because the Sportage is growing in size, you benefit in the back where there is more room for occupants. This is also the case in the back, where the cargo volume makes gains.
All in all, it's a better-looking, roomier, richer, more efficient and more economical SUV that awaits us.
Really, there's a lot to be excited about.
