Kia's 2026 hybrid lineup covers four distinct vehicle types: a compact crossover, a mid-size SUV, a three-row SUV, and a full-size family van. Each uses a different version of the hybrid powertrain and serves a different kind of driver — but they all share the same goal of reducing fuel consumption compared to their gas-only equivalents. If fuel economy is your primary consideration, here is...
The 2027 Kia EV5 is set to arrive in Canadian dealerships as Kia's compact electric SUV built specifically for the Canadian market — the only North American market where it will be offered. Nine trim configurations spanning two battery sizes, two drivetrain options, and a pricing range from $43,495 to $61,495 MSRP give buyers a wide range of entry points into the lineup. The Wind FWD through GT-Line Limited AWD trims are set to be available first, with the Light FWD following in Q4 2026.
This article takes a close look at what the EV5 cabin actually offers, how the battery and trim structure works, and what separates this vehicle from a conventional SUV in its class.
Nine Trims, Two Batteries, Two Drivetrains
The EV5 lineup is organized around two battery options. The base Light FWD trim uses a 60.3 kWh standard-range battery. All other trims — Wind through GT-Line Limited — use the 81.4 kWh long-range battery. Every trim from Wind AWD upward adds all-wheel drive as an option alongside the FWD configuration.

The Cabin: Open Layout, Generous Storage
The EV5's interior takes full advantage of the electric platform. With the shifting mechanism mounted to the steering column rather than the centre console, the console area opens up into a genuinely usable storage space — a practical detail that changes daily use in a way conventional SUVs can't easily replicate.
Seating is for five passengers, with an emphasis on shoulder room and legroom that goes beyond what the exterior dimensions suggest. Soft-touch surfaces and ten environmentally mindful materials — consistent with other Kia EVs — are used throughout. An available mood lamp lets occupants adjust ambient lighting to preference.
The centrepiece of the dash is a panoramic display measuring nearly 30 inches in combined width, providing access to navigation, media, and vehicle functions in a single sweep. The second-row seats fold completely flat, creating a level load floor and maximizing cargo capacity. Additional storage comes from the front trunk — a small but useful compartment under the hood designed for a charging adapter, cable, or small items. This frunk-style space is a direct benefit of the electric architecture: there is no engine taking up that space.
NACS Charging: Broader Access
The EV5 is equipped with the North American Charging Standard (NACS) port, which expands access to the growing fast-charging network across Canada. This is the same port used across Kia's 2026 EV lineup and is now the standard across the North American EV industry.
Exterior Design: Consistent EV Identity
The EV5 carries forward Kia's established EV design language: the signature 3-dimensional star map lighting pattern, a sculpted side profile with hidden rear door handles, and a commanding stance. Available wheel designs range from 18" to 20" alloy depending on trim. Eight exterior colours are available, including two new to Kia: Magma Red and Frost Blue.
Why the EV5 Was Built for Canada
The compact SUV segment is Canada's largest vehicle category, and the EV5 enters it as a dedicated electric option at a price point below the EV9 and EV6. As Canada's exclusive North American market for the EV5, Kia tailored the model's sizing, feature content, and pricing specifically to what Canadian buyers look for in this segment. Kia Canada's COO described it as "the revolution of the family SUV" designed to meet the technology and convenience needs of modern families.
Production takes place at the Kia Autoland Gwangju plant in South Korea. Online reservations opened December 4, 2025 at kia.ca.
