A Quebec family loading up for a July drive to the cottage knows the real test isn’t the destination. It’s the four or five hours in between. Kids get restless, adults get stiff, and a flat bench seat in the second row doesn’t help either one. The 2027 Kia Carnival’s available VIP Lounge second row is built around that exact stretch of highway. What Is the VIP Lounge Second Row? On the...
A plug-in hybrid version of the popular compact SUV from Kia has been added to the completely revamped 2023 Sportage lineup. As the fifth generation of the Sportage, the Sportage PHEV offers more connectivity, better dynamics, and more advanced safety technology than ever before. The new Sportage also has more cargo space as well as more legroom.
All of this and more will be available with the Kia Sportage PHEV starting in the fall. The starting price for the Sportage PHEV is $44,995, whereas the starting price for the SX model is set at $48,395.
With its turbocharged 1.6L 4-cylinder engine and 66.9kW electric motor, the 2023 Kia Sportage PHEV will be one of the most powerful hybrid vehicles on the market today. A 13.8-kWh lithium-ion battery powers the electric motor, which allows a range of up to 55 kilometers. Kia says the new Sportage PHEV will average just 6.7 liters per 100 kilometers. Considering that it has 261 horsepower, 258 lb-ft of torque, and over 1,000 liters of cargo space, such a low fuel consumption rating is quite impressive. In just 2.0 hours, the battery can be fully charged, and with a 55 km range, you can go the entire day without refueling.
In addition to its long list of features, the 2023 Kia Sportage will feature a large 10.25-inch center display, ventilated front seats, heated front and rear seats, heated steering wheel, and many more. There will also be a hybrid engine option with 227 horsepower available in 2023, along with a 187-horsepower, 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine that comes standard.
“Offering a plug-in hybrid option in one of our brand’s most popular models is a true turning point for our electrified future,” says Elias El-Achhab, Chief Operating Officer at Kia Canada. “The Sportage PHEV is uncompromising in providing Canadians leading design, safety, convenience and remarkable fuel-savings.”
