Kia Canada has revealed the pricing and specifications of its first-ever Carnival Hybrid, set to arrive in early 2025. The new model combines enhanced efficiency with updated design elements, offering Canadian families a versatile and fuel-conscious option in the minivan segment.
Powertrain and Efficiency
The 2025 Carnival Hybrid features a 1.6L turbocharged engine paired with an electric motor, delivering a combined output of 242 horsepower and 270 lb-ft of torque. This powertrain is coupled with a 6-speed automatic transmission and includes a 54kW drive motor, which Kia notes is the highest output among their hybrid models.
Fuel economy ratings for the new Carnival Hybrid are impressive, with 6.9L/100 km in the city, 7.6L/100 km on the highway, and a combined rating of 7.2L/100 km. To maximize efficiency, drivers can adjust regenerative braking levels using paddle shifters, allowing for greater control over energy recovery.
Design Updates and Features
The 2025 Carnival Hybrid showcases Kia's latest design language, featuring the brand's signature star map lighting on the front end. Exterior enhancements include gunmetal finishes on various elements such as bumper trims, moldings, and roof rails. A new black grille and wheels complete the refreshed look.
For those seeking a more distinctive appearance, Kia offers a 'dark edition' on the SX and SX+ trims, further elevating the Carnival's aesthetic appeal.
David Sherrard, Director of Strategic Planning at Kia Canada, commented on the new model: "The Carnival truly is the perfect life utility vehicle to meet the needs of any family. This 2025 model year specifically is robust with options and flexibility, be it seating configuration, convenience, safety features and now the introduction of a hybrid powertrain."
