Kia's 2026 hybrid lineup covers four distinct vehicle types: a compact crossover, a mid-size SUV, a three-row SUV, and a full-size family van. Each uses a different version of the hybrid powertrain and serves a different kind of driver — but they all share the same goal of reducing fuel consumption compared to their gas-only equivalents. If fuel economy is your primary consideration, here is...
The Kia Niro received a complete makeover for the 2023 model year, which included many improvements to its efficiency, practicality and convenience.
A lower fuel consumption
The 2023 Kia Niro benefits from a lower fuel consumption in both hybrid and plug-in hybrid forms due to a revised powertrain that features new cooling, friction, and combustion technologies. This improvement is even more noticeable with the plug-in hybrid version, which boasts a 25% improvement in terms of combined fuel efficiency. In addition, this model can drive up to 53 kilometres using only electricity, which makes it possible for many drivers to complete their entire daily commute without burning any fuel. The entirely electric 2023 Niro EV also receives powertrain improvements that increase its range from 385 kilometres to 407 kilometres.
A more practical SUV
The 2023 Kia Niro displays slightly larger exterior dimensions than the model it replaces, which allows it to offer more interior space than before and more than its main competitors. This additional space is found in both the passenger compartment and the cargo area, both of which offer class-leading volume. Compared to the previous generation, front-seat passengers benefit from more head and shoulder room while passengers seated in the rear are more comfortable due to an increase in shoulder room. Behind the rear seat, the loading space goes from 634 litres to 646 litres and this area can be expanded by folding the rear seats, which reveals up to 1,805 litres of loading capacity, also an improvement. This makes it easier to take long trips away with the Niro since it is easier to accommodate passengers and all of their luggage.
More convenience features
The 2023 Kia Niro is equipped with all of the latest comfort and convenience features in its category in order to make the driver’s life easier. For example, the Niro now benefits from the Digital Key 2.0 system which makes it possible to use the driver’s phone or smart watch as the key fob, thus ending the need to carry the actual key. In addition, the new Niro can receive over-the-air updates that keep its infotainment system up to date at all times.
