Kia's 2026 hybrid lineup covers four distinct vehicle types: a compact crossover, a mid-size SUV, a three-row SUV, and a full-size family van. Each uses a different version of the hybrid powertrain and serves a different kind of driver — but they all share the same goal of reducing fuel consumption compared to their gas-only equivalents. If fuel economy is your primary consideration, here is...
The Kia Seltos arrived on the market last March. With this product, Kia has not only added an SUV to its line-up, but they are also presenting a model that offers a very interesting compromise on several levels. To give you an idea, here are three advantages offered by the Seltos over its competitors.
1 - A perfect size
It is not easy for a manufacturer to deliver a product in the perfect format. Sub-compact SUVs offer the space and handling of a car, but their cargo volume is sometimes limited and space for rear passengers is not optimal. With a compact SUV, you get all that, but sometimes it's too much for your needs and you end up paying extra for nothing.
The Seltos takes care of all that. It's still small in size, but it offers just that extra space that's missing from sub-compact models. In the Kia range, it's positioned between the Niro and the Sportage. Consequently, if you find the first one too small and the second one too big... Its price is also halfway there.
2 - The IVT transmission
Kia's IVT transmission could be seen as an evolution of the Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT). The I refers to the word Intelligent. In fact, this transmission continuously shifts gears to provide greater efficiency than automatic transmissions. It does this by modulating the pressure of the pulley system in the transmission by adjusting it according to driving input and driving conditions.
In addition, the IVT simulates gear changes, giving the impression of driving a model equipped with an automatic transmission. The IVT also uses a chain belt instead of the much more common push belt. This also helps reduce fuel consumption.
3 – Well equipped
Kia has always had a reputation for being generous with the equipment of its models and it proves it once again with its Seltos. In fact, each variant offers an interesting list of amenities for the price. To give you an idea, here are some of the features found in the base version: compatibility with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto applications, heated seats and alerts for blind spots and rear cross-traffic. In the latter case, it's usually offered with higher-end variants, regardless of the model.
